“Why Aren’t We All Jazz Feminists Now?”

“How do we bridge the divide between critical practices of understanding gender within jazz and black feminist approaches to gender in black music? Are we speaking the same critical language and, if so, why can’t we hear one another? In bridging this gap, do we create the possibility of a feminist jazz critical practice that speaks to the world we live in now, rather than the past?”
